Your task structure

EH&S Specialist III – Olean Plant

Reports To: Manager of Regulatory Affairs

 

Position Summary

This individual shall perform all duties required to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations for the Olean facility. They shall establish and maintain policies and procedures that are consistent with these requirements. These duties shall be performed in a manner that will adhere to the guiding principles and values of the company.

 

Position Responsibilities

     

  • Perform duties related to the company’s safety and health program including applicable aspects of OSHA. This includes assisting with maintaining the requirements of the company’s safety management system ISO 18001.
  • Perform duties related to the company’s solid waste program. This includes all aspects of RCRA, resource recovery permit operations, and waste minimization. This responsibility also includes participating in the development and maintenance of the waste program budget.
  • Perform duties related to federal, state and local regulations for air, water, toxic substances and dangerous goods shipping. This includes assisting with maintaining the requirements of the company’s environmental management system ISO 14001
  • Compile and complete all applicable reports required for federal, state and local agencies
  • Develop and maintain aspects of the emergency response plan for the Olean facility
  • Develop and conduct training for the Olean facility on topics related to environmental, health and safety aspects.
  • Lead and participate in the investigation and corrective action of incidents involving the regulatory aspects of the company.
  • Interact with local emergency personnel and government agencies as needed.
  • Interact with plant personnel in order to maintain and improve the safety culture
  • Perform duties to maintain the security aspects of the Olean facility.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers regarding environmental and safety topics
  • Actively participate in teams to maintain and improve the safety and regulatory culture of the company. This includes participation in the implementation of capital projects

Position Requirements

     

  • Must have a college or university degree in environmental science and/or related discipline. We will consider at least three years of related environmental and/or safety experience.
  • Must be comfortable working in a chemical plant environment. This includes maneuvering around industrial equipment (e.g. tanks, pumps, etc.) and chemicals.
  • Must be able to be on your feet for significant amounts of time. This will include navigating stairs and tank ladders
  • Must have the ability to work independently and without much supervision.
  • Must have strong computer skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications. We will consider experience with SAP a plus.  
  • Must possess good communication skills, both written and oral.
